ISLAMABAD: Finally, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) shared with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the hard copy of the provisional census data.
Sources in the commission revealed that the provisional data had been provided as per the 24th constitutional amendment, which would be the basis of carrying out delimitation of constituencies of the provincial assemblies as well as the National Assembly.
While population data is available on the PBS website, the Election Commission had asked for provision of the hard copy of the same and it had been duly shared with the electoral body Saturday evening. For provision of notified documented data, the Election Commission had especially written to the bureau.
The data consists of 130 books, one for each district and each book consists of 100-150 pages. ECP sources said that after the most crucial development and as per the decision taken earlier, the related staff would be on its toes on Saturday to do the preparatory work.
Meanwhile, the ECP Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad has summoned a meeting here at the Election Commission secretariat on January 10 at 2:00PM in connection with the upcoming exercise of fresh delimitation of constituencies and revision of electoral rolls.
