Lawyer and politico Jane Dueker has ankled her latest law firm and will hang out her own shingle in 2018.

Dueker, the politically connected barrister and former Democratic gubernatorial chief of staff, has given up her position at Spencer Fane to start her own practice.

"I just thought this was a good time to strike out on my own," said Dueker of the move that took place last week.

"This has nothing at all to do with any problems," Dueker added. "Spencer Fane is a great firm and I plan to continue to work with them in the future."

Dueker declined to give more details about her fledgling practice, other than to say details are being ironed out.

Before joining Spencer Fane as its in-house counsel in May 2015, Dueker worked as a government affairs attorney with Stinson Leonard Street.

The former chief of staff for Gov. Bob Holden from 2003 to 2004, Dueker was an adviser to the successful election campaign of St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger in 2014. She also has served as an assistant state attorney general.

Dueker did say she plans to continue her radio career, which consists of regular appearances, Friday afternoons, on Mark Reardon's show, and also some fill-in shifts and spot appearances to provide political analysis.
