Dilapidated Govt buildings lie unattended in Palamu

| | DALTONGANJ | in Ranchi

There are more than four dozen Government buildings in just two blocks of Palamu Sadar and Chainpur which are in a state of total dilapidation and serve no purpose at all over the last one decade or so.

About 30 decimal of prime plot on the premise of Chainpur block is having a highly dilapidated first aid vet centre which is sans roof, door and wears an eerie look. This plot of land can be used for any public utility services said sources.

Civil society activists have urged DDC Palamu Sushant Gaurav to first get all such dilapidated government buildings as condemned and then to erase them from the surface as these government buildings are of no use at all and are occupying enough prime land too.

DDC, Palamu, Sushant Gaurav said, “I have asked Chainpur BDO Sushil Rai to secure a condemnation certificate of all such buildings in his block first so that these can be removed  lateron and space ( plot of land) that will be so set free from their occupancy will be put to use for other public utility.’

Gaurav agreed that huge buildings belonging to the irrigation department are so languishing in Palamu’s Mohammadganj block.

The activists have further pointed out that numerous quarters built for Sadar block near J S College in Daltonganj are in utter destruction where no amount of any repair can ever put them to use.

Doors, windows, panes all have been stolen and thiefs have even removed huge number of cemented brick of such quarters. They have suggested that no block in Palamu which has 21 blocks in all has any centre for vegetable growers of villages falling under the respective blocks and space so freed from these ghoulish government buildings on their removal from the plot can be made as veg centre.

The DDC is also not averse to this idea as he has directed Chainpur BDO to find out if such vegetable centre can be raised on such spaces .

The activists have claimed that five three storeyed buildings in the irrigation colony here in Daltonganj look like the buildings of medieval ages where roof and wall are just to come crumbling but they have retained prime plot of the government land.

DDC Gaurav said such a drive of removal of all ghoulish and dilapidated government buildings cannot be launched in the whole of the district at one point of time but a phase wise action in this regard will be most preferable.

DDC has set his eyes on Chainpur block.

However, he is cautious that all space vacant or going to be vacant by removal process like in these cases cannot be used or occupied rather open space is to be left for posterity too.
