Following her win for Best Actress in a drama television series at last night’s Golden Globes, Moss confessed the second cycle of the ground-breaking drama that so far it has been “gut wrenching” and “inspiring”. 

Following the heart-racing finale of season one, season two is now out of the realms of the source material. Elisabeth revealed that the upcoming season acts as “an example of resistance”. 

And with a 13-episode run in season two, there is a lot of room to explore the bleak world of The Handmaid’s Tale this year. 

“We are literally in the middle of episodes seven and eight, we are heavy in the throes of it”, she told TV Guide, despite not yet knowing herself how the last five episodes of the season are going to play out.

Elisabeth is due to have a conversation with Executive Producer Bruce Miller about the second half of the season any day now. 

However, she did reveal the appearance of a brand new character within the next season of the critically acclaimed show. 

Elisabeth revealed that Clea DuVall will be joining the cast in season two as the wife of Alexis Bledel’s character, Ofglen - Emily real name Emily - in a guest-starring role.

Does this mean we are going to finally see flashbacks looking into Ofglen’s currently unseen past? Or will her wife arrive within Gilead to disrupt the current status quo? 

Elisabeth also warned viewers about the premiere of season two.

“Don’t try to guess what happens in that first scene of episode one in season two,” she said. “You will never get it, and I mean that objectively as a viewer. You just won’t guess, and I love that so much”.

The Handmaid’s Tale is set to return to Hulu and Channel 4 in April 2018.
