BAFTAs: The nominations are out tomorrow

The ceremony is next month, and Britain’s answer to the Oscars will reveal its shortlist very soon indeed.

The BAFTA nominations 2018 will be unveiled on Tuesday 9 January at 7:30am - live online.

A tweet from the official BAFTA account declares that they will be unveiled live on Facebook and Twitter, as well as on the BAFTA website. Express.co.uk will also provide coverage.

The nominations will come just two days after the Golden Globes; which took place late last night.

Alison JanneyGETTY

Allison Janney is in contention for I, Tonya

Expected to fare well are the usual suspects of the current awards season, with Gary Oldman presumably a shoe-in for Best Actor after playing Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

Other favourites such as Shape of Water, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri and Lady Bird should also feature prominently, and it’ll be interesting too to see if voters recognise Call Me By Your Name and Get Out.

Tomorrow will also be when the BAFTAs’ new host will be unmasked now that Stephen Fry has stepped down after hosting twelve times.

The EE Rising Star Award nominees have already been announced, and public voting is now open.

Stephen FryGETTY

Who will replace Stephen Fry as host?

Contenders there include Timothee Chalamet, Josh O’Connor, Daniel Kaluuya, Florence Pugh and Tessa Thompson.

The BAFTAs will once again take place at the Royal Albert Hall on February 18.

The BAFTA nominations are out from 7:30am on January 9 - and you can see them all here on Express.co.uk.
