FORT WALTON BEACH — Officers responding to reports of shots fired arrested a man after finding a loaded Glock in his car.
According to a Fort Walton Beach Police Department arrest report, on the night of Dec. 29 officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Holmes Boulevard and Martisa Road. Officers observed a vehicle traveling near the area that matched the description of the vehicle given by the complainant.
Officers conducted a felony stop on the vehicle and located a .40 caliber Glock handgun on the left rear floorboard and a magazine loaded with two .40 caliber rounds on the center of the rear passenger seat. The report noted both the gun and the magazine were “within reach of the defendant.”
A criminal history search of the man revealed he had a previous felony conviction in the state of Florida.
The man admitted to being in possession of the firearm. Witnesses said he discharged the gun from within his vehicle.
The 24-year-old man was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a concealed firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm from within a vehicle, all three felonies.
