Ludhiana: The Ludhiana (rural) police claimed to have busted an arms supply gang with the arrest of two of its members and seizure of four illegal weapons from their possession. The accused were planning a major loot at village Budhel in the Sudhar area on Saturday evening. However three accomplices of the accused managed to flee from the spot. The arrested accused were identified as Inderjit Singh Baba of village Pamali and Talwinder Singh Kala of Rajoana Kalan village while the one of the three at large included Amritpal Singh Mann of village Pamali. The remaining two accused have not been identified yet.
According to police officials cops received a tip off that five miscreants were planning a loot at Village Budhel on Saturday evening. Acting on the information, they raided the place and nabbed the two while the rest three escaped. Cops said that four illegal weapons and eight live cartridges were seized from the arrested accused. The illegal weapons seized included an automatic pistol and three country-made .32 bore pistols.
The accused were booked under sections 399 (Making preparation to commit dacoity) and 402 (Assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) of IPC and sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at the Sudhar police station.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ludhiana (rural), Surjeet Singh said the accused were
arms suppliers and would get weapons from Uttar Pradesh and sell them in rural Ludhiana areas. He added the two were being questioned about the number of weapons they had sold so far.
