Hunt admits to feeling the heat

Cape Town - Wits head coach Gavin Hunt admits that he is beginning to feel the heat as the Absa Premiership champions occupy 16th place.

The Students crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Free State Stars on Friday and are struggling to find form in this season’s campaign.

"Of course, we are worried," the beleaguered Hunt was quoted by KickOff on Monday.

"We are upset. We are anxious. We want to get away. We know we are better than this. We need to win games by hook or crook," said Hunt.

"We need to get a few wins or a win. Four games here in a row and we have not scored a goal and every game we should have won by plenty of goals.

“But we need to score and they scored from a corner kick. That's football but we need to score.

"Games like this last year we should have won 5-1 but we are not. You can't miss the chances we are missing."

Wits, who were crowned Telkom Knockout champions in December, last won a league game in October when they beat Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

At the time, it was their second win in three league games and it looked like they were finally putting their troubled start to the campaign behind them.

Unfortunately, the season has gone from bad to worse for the champions, and their main priority now will be trying to stay in the league, rather than reclaiming their title.
