Mumbai Kamala Mills Fire: Yug Pathak, owner of Mojo’s Bistro pub sent to jail

Mumbai: 26-year-old Yug Pathak, the son of a retired IPS officer and one of the co-owners of Mojo’s Bistro pub, has been sent to police custody till January 12 in connection with the deadly fire at the Kamala Mills compound on December 29. Pathak was arrested on Saturday after the Mumbai Fire Brigade, in its preliminary probe report, said the fire possibly started at Mojo’s Bistro due to the flying embers from a hookah. On Sunday, Pathak was produced before the Bhoiwada court in Dadar which sent him to police custody till January 12.
“We sought his custody to find out whether all the safety precautions and norms were followed by Mojo’s Bistro. We need to know their roles in the fire,” said an officer attached to the NM Joshi Marg police station. Yug’s statement has already been recorded once. The names of Yug Pathak and co-owner Yug Tuli were added in the First Information Report along with the three absconding accused co-owners of ‘1Above’ pub. They have been booked under IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life and personal safety of others) and other relevant provisions.
The police have also announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for any information about the three pub owners — Kripesh Sanghavi, Jigar Sanghavi and Abhijeet Mankar — who are still on the run.
