Irish eyes are on Saoirse Ronan and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouriwriter-director Martin McDonagh.

Ronan is nominated in the Best Actress - Musical or Comedy category for her performance in the film Lady Bird.

McDonagh's film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is nominated in multiple categories including Best Picture, Director and Screenplay.

There was disappointment for Irish Outlander star Caitriona Balfe, who lost out in the Best Actress in a TV Series - Drama category to The Handmaid's Tale's Elisabeth Moss.

Following her win, Nicole Kidman dedicated the award to her daughters and cast members - saying "wow, the power of women" - and her mother, who "was an advocate for the women's movement when I was growing up".

"My achievements are her achievements," she added
