Brit held after Thai hooker plunges to death after 'strange and extravagant' balcony sex

A BRITISH tourist has reportedly been arrested over the death of a Thai hooker.

Reece Vella, 25, was arrested in Pattaya after Wannipa Janhuathon, 26, plunged five floors to her death following an "extravagant" sex session on a balcony.

Wannipa suffered severe head injuries and multiple fractures after falling naked from the apartment block, with a half-empty packet of sex drugs.

Reece, from Birmingham, fled the scene after her death early Saturday morning before being held at a nearby bar a day later.

In a clip purporting to show his arrest, heavily-built Reece is heard asking to be un-cuffed in the clip, before laughing and adding: "Can I have a cigarette now?".

He later admitted to police that he had taken the hooker back to his rented room and "had sex in the bedroom then on the balcony before she fell".

Police chief Narong Chantra said Reece was arrested on suspicion of "negligence causing others to die” and also for stealing a bike.

He said: "Miss Wannipa and Mr Vella were having very strange, extravagant sex on the balcony until she fell down below and died."

He added: "Mr Vella was in shock and knowing that he had overstayed his visa ran away and kept her mobile phone in his bag and left the room.

"Mr Vella has been arrested on suspicion of negligence causing others to die, overstaying his visa in excess of 59 days and stealing a motorcycle at night.

"The foreign suspect will be processed in accordance with the law [sic].”

The girl, also known as Joy, had been working at Sky Bar in the city's bustling Soi 6 street, notorious for bars and massage parlours.

Thai police said Reece paid 1,500 baht (£35) before heading to the nearby Cosy Beach View apartment block.

Her body was found by the building's security guard Kriengsak Khamchachai, 23, who described hearing a "loud crash".

Wannipa was rushed to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Devastated colleagues from Sky Bar said Wannipa had been one of the "happiest, friendliest girls anybody could wish to meet".

They said in a statement: "As many of you know we lost our beautiful Joy.

"The place will not be the same without Joy's big cheeky smile and sense of humour.

"She really was a very special girl and left a lasting impression on all of us. She will remain in our hearts forever."
