Wheat futures edge up 0.36% on speculative buying

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Wheat prices were higher by 0.36 per cent to Rs 1,696 per in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh bets, taking positive cues from the spot market on pick-up in demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in February went up by Rs 6, or 0.36 per cent to Rs 1,696 per with an open interest of 3,860 lots.

Likewise, the wheat for delivery in January contracts was trading higher by Rs 5, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,662 per in 1,680 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand in the physical market amid a pause in arrivals, mainly influenced wheat prices in futures trade.
