New Delhi, Jan 8: In yet another incident of mob justice, two youths were brutally thrashed by a raging mob after they were allegedly caught stealing cows of a local person in Mughalsarai’s Subhash Nagar area. Fortunately, police arrived at the spot and took the alleged cow thieves into the custody.
A case of theft has been registered in this connection. Speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) S K Singh said, “The two were fleeing after stealing a cow and a calf of a local person. They were caught red-handed by the owner of the cows with the help of others.”
“We have ordered an investigation into the matter,” Singh added. The SP said that action will also be taken against the people for thrashing the duo.
In 2017, many incidents of alleged communal hatredness relating to cows have been reported with individuals being brutally killed. Prime Minister Modi too had warned cow vigilantes against killing people in the name of gau raksha. PM Modi had said that as a society, there is no place for violence.
