LG Baijal appointed useless officer: Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responded to reports that cold weather had killed 44 people had capital, by announcing he would a show cause notice to the CEO of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, and blaming Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for appointing a "useless officer."

"Media reporting 44 deaths of homeless due to cold. Am issuing show cause notice to CEO, DUSIB. Negligible deaths last year. This year, LG appointed a useless officer. LG refuses to consult us before appointing officers. How do we run govt like this?" he wrote in a tweet.

A report published by The Pioneer on Monday said "44 fresh deaths" were reported in the "first week of the New Year."

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said the "useless officer" Kejriwal mentioned was "the same officer for whom (the) Assembly Committee recommended adverse remarks in his Service record."

"Chief Secretary Kutty went to HC to defend this officer against Committee. Hon’ble LG will never act against such officers," he added in his tweet.
