DUBAI: Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children (AJCCC) introduces its first children musical group comprising 11 children, aged between 7 and 15. The group is set to perform its own composed musical tracks, naming the concert “Mood”.

‘Mood Music Concert,’ held on Jan.13, is going to be the main event in the AJCCC’s Agenda of 2018, which was announced at a press conference held on Jan.7, at Al Jalila Centre on Al Wasl road, Dubai.

Speaking at the press conference, Tala Totnjee, Head of Music Department at the centre, mentioned, “After two months of practice and exercise, the 11 talented kids have composed their own music track. Thus, ‘Mood Music Concert’ will be including 11 music tracks from various countries of the kids’ nationalities, including: Cuba, Korea, Turkey and other Arab countries of the MENA.”

She added that the award-winning singer of ‘Arabs Got Talent’ Eman Al Beasha will be participating in the music concert along with the kids. The audience will undergo a mesmerising experience, which highlights a variety of talents, performing different musical styles and moods.

The concert is going to be a private one – for kids’ parents and some officials of the centre. It is not open to the public to prevent kids feeling pressurised and stressed since it is going to be their debut performance.

Moza Al-Raqbani, Director of Future and Strategy Department at the centre, announced four artistic events, as per the 2018 agenda. She further said, “We came up with those four events according to the talents that we have discovered at our campaign which is called ‘We are looking for you’. The campaign was for around a year circulating on social media where we received more than a hundred talented participants, but we have adopted 22 talented kids only.”

She continued saying that each one of those 22 kids was talented in different types of art, and the centre had selected them, determined to support them until they turned professional artists.

“Bidayat” Pottery Exhibition

The Pottery teacher of the centre, Kamal Al Zubi, declared that the first pottery exhibition of AJCCC would be held on Jan.27, where it would showcase various pottery projects that use different techniques such as: hand building, wheel throwing, and glazing that would culminate in sculptures, installations, vases, and more.

Participants of the “Bidayat” Pottery Exhibition will be aged between 6 and 60, and the youngest Emirati potter is ten years old. There was also some family pottery work, where the kids and their parents worked together, and spent quality time too. Al Zubi mentioned that all the work in the exhibition was done by people who are working on clay and ceramics for the first time at AJCCC.

“ACT” Festival

The actor, Abdullah Al Miqbali, declared that there would be a kids theatre festival in Dubai, the first of its kind. “They say that the theatre is the soul of arts, and  at the‘ACT’ Festival we are looking forward to making the theatre our core of all creative talents and a platform to express all emotions,” he said.

He added that the festival would be held for three days, Feb.22-24, at Al Jalila Centre, witnessing 40 kids of the centre, and other art influencers and actors.

The loop

AJCCC is keen on educating the nannies in health and nutrition, with respect to their parents’ concern about the kids since they spend most of the day at the centre.

Therefore, the centre is going to organise a special event called “The Loop”. It talks about the basics of healthy lifestyle and sustainability.

“More than just an Art” Exhibition

Alongside the press conference, Al Jalila centre has opened an artistic exhibition, which is called “More than Art”, at the centre’s gallery area which will be open for public viewing this week. Around 85 kids aged between 9 to 14, showcased their work at the exhibition. The different types of art forms exhibited included drawing, fashion, handcrafts, portrait, and more.
