The Gophers opened the Big Ten wrestling season Sunday with a 29-3 home victory over Michigan State, even though four regulars were held out of the lineup.
Minnesota competed without No. 5 Ethan Lizak, No. 8 Mitch McKee, Owen Webster and Hunter Marko, who have all made at least six starts this season in dual competition. Steve Polakowski, Skyler Petry, Ben Brancale and Dylan Anderson filled in with victories for the Gophers. Petry scored a major decision at 133 pounds.
