FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — In a game of runs, Alabama had the last say, handing the Arkansas Razorbacks their first home loss of the season as they outscored the Hogs 29-16 in the fourth quarter to win 83-76 in women’s basketball action Sunday at Bud Walton Arena.

“We’re just really, really proud anytime you can go on the road and get a win in this league," said Alabama coach Kristy Curry. “The timing was great, when we got in it, we were all in it, and that’s what’s important. All five were great communicating together and all on the same page.”

The Crimson Tide (12-4, 2-1) withstood a 13-4 run toward the end of a sloppy third quarter and entered the fourth down 55-50. However, the tables turned in the fourth as Alabama forced Arkansas (10-6, 1-2) into turnovers time and again, with Arkansas coughing the ball up seven times in the final period.

Senior Ashley Williams scored nine of her 17 points in the fourth quarter.

“We came into the huddle and said this is the time where we buckle down, refocus and knock down shots, and we came out with the win," Williams said.

Ultimately, the game was decided at the charity stripe. Alabama got into the bonus just three minutes into the second half by forcing the ball inside and utilizing its size and strength mismatch over Arkansas. Alabama took full advantage of the Arkansas fouls making 20 of their 25 free throws in the fourth quarter, while the Hogs shot only 21 total for the game.

Said Curry on the big fourth quarter: “We felt like we allowed these guys to get too comfortable, so we changed it up a little bit later than we normally do, and it paid off.”

The Razorbacks’ guards, Malica Monk (21) and Devin Cosper (24), scored 45 of the team's 76 total points.

Alabama faces LSU (10-4, 2-1) Thursday at home.
