Golden Globes 2018 most savage moment?: 'Shame on him'

AUDIENCES were left with dropped jaws when this happened at the Golden Globes 2018.

While Mariah Carey's bodycon black dress had tongues wagging on the red carpet, it was James Franco that was hot topic of conversation inside The Beverly Hilton for the 75th Golden Globe Awards.

The 39-year-old actor sparked a social media meltdown when he went to collect his award for Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

And it wasn't because he cracked a side-splitting one-liner…

As James launched into his acceptant speech for his part in The Disaster Artist, he welcomed onto the stage Tommy Wiseau – the director whom the film is based on.

SHOCK: Tommy Wiseau tried to grab the mic from James Franco

James started: "The person I have to thank is the man himself, Tommy Wiseau.

"Come on up here Tommy!"

And just as Tommy waltzed up to be part of the celebration he tried to grab the mic from James to give a little speech for himself.

But James wasn't having any of it and elbowed the cult legend out of the way… awkward.

The toe-curling moment was far from over as Dave Franco doubled over in hysterics as he watched the chaos unfold.

    James continued: "19 years ago, he was stuck in traffic from the Golden Globes.

    He said to his best friend Greg 'Golden Globes? So what, I'm not invited. I know they don't want me… guy with accent, long hair… so I show them.

    "I don't wait for Hollywood, I make my own movie. I'm very happy to share with him this moment today."

    Naturally viewers had a lot to say about the shock snub but opinion were divided.

    One person slammed: "Very disappointed at how James Franco treated Tommy Wiseau... pushing him away from the mic! Shame on James for not letting Tommy speak! If it hadn't been for Tommy, James would not have won that award."

      A third scathed: "James Franco blocking Tommy Wiseau from the mic is real swamp vermin behaviour, can't believe he's done this.

      Others praised the actor turned director for his move.

      "James Franco pushing Tommy Wiseau from the microphone was by far my favourite part, god knows what he would've said," wooed one.

      A second continued: "Shout out to James Franco for sparing the world from Tommy Wiseau’s unscripted speech."

      "I loved the way James Franco blocked Tommy Wiseau from speaking into the mic. I won the the award, I'm talking," laughed another.
