
The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards are being held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. This year, the event will be hosted by talk show host Seth Meyers. Following the sexual harassment scandal involving many bigwigs of Hollywood, this is the first mega event that will see many Hollywood celebrities under roof. To showcase their dissent, men and women have decided to wear black as a way of silent protest.
At the Golden Globes this year, Oprah Winfrey will be honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award for her “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”.
For the movies, The Shape of Water has been nominated in seven categories this year, which makes it the most nominated film of the season followed by The Post and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, both of which have been nominated in six categories.

8:06 am: Martin McDonagh wins Best Screenplay – Motion Picture for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
8:03 am: Kirk Douglas, who turned 101 a few weeks ago, is called on stage at the Golden Globes. Glimpses from his career are playedon the screen. The audience welcomes him with a standing ovation. Kirk is applauded for ending the blacklist of writers in Hollywood by crediting Trumbo for writing the movie Spartacus (1960).
7:59 am: Allison Janney wins in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for her performance in I, Tonya. She thanked her co-star Margot Robbie. I, Tonya is based on the life of of figure skater Tonya Harding and Janney thanked her for being an inspiration.
7:54 am: The first Golden Globe Ambassador is announced by Dwayne Johnson and it is his own daughter Simone Garcia Johnson.
7:51 am: Amy Poehler and Andy Samberg present the award for the Best Motion Picture – Animated and it is won by Coco.
7:47 am: Laura Dern wins the award in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her performance on Big Little Lies. She urged everyone to support and encourage survivors of abuse.
7:39 am: James Franco wins in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for The Disaster Artist. James Franco called Tommy Wiseau on the stage and shared his joy with him. He also thanked Seth Rogen who he has known since Freaks & Geeks. He also thanked his brother and co-actor Dave Franco. James Franco was also the director for this movie.
7:30 am: “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman wins the Golden Globe in the category Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
7:28 am: Alexandre Desplat wins Best Original Score – Motion Picture for The Shape of Water.
7: 25 am: Alexander Skarsgård wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Big Little Lies. He played an abusive husband on the show. He thanked all the women attached to the show, especially Nicole Kidman.
7:18 am: The Handmaid’s Tale wins the award for Best Television Series – Drama.
7: 16 am: Sterling K Brown wins the award for Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series – Drama for his role in This is Us. She applauded the courage of the writers and the makers of the show for writing a role that was exclusively meant for an African-American man.
7: 14 am: Elisabeth Moss wins the award for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Drama for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale
7:10 am: Rachel Brosnahan wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her role in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

7:06 am: Sam Rockwell wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture Golden Globe Award for his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
7:05 am: Nicole Kidman takes home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in the HBO series Big Little Lies. In her speech, Kidman urged others to keep the conversation about abuse and the treatment of women alive.

7 am: Seth Meyers opens the 2018 Golden Globe Awards with jokes about the sexual misconduct scandal. Opening his monologue by saying, “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen!”, Seth Meyers remarks it’s the first time in three months that it won’t be terrifying for male actors to have their names read out loud. He also didn’t miss a chance to take potshots at disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein and US President Donald Trump.
