Air wing rescues 2 women injured in desert

SHARJAH: The Ministry of Interior’s air ambulance crews transferred two women critically injured in an accident to a hospital in Sharjah. They had various major injures after their dune buggy flipped over in a sandy area of Al Quattah, Sharjah.

According to the Group Captain, Salem Khalifa Salem Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of the Air Wing Department of the MoI, the department’s operations room received a call from the National Ambulance which was at the scene requesting help to medevac the wounded ladies. The air ambulance was dispatched to the location,  providing the injured with first-aid. Later, they were taken to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah.

He advised the public, who practise desert and wild sports, to take extra precautions while in such areas, as off-road adventures can result in serious injuries and severe falls and severe twists. He urged them to wear the protective clothing, not to venture in remote areas, and to keep the communication devices in usable condition, to be able to connect with competent authorities during emergency.
