Mumbai: A 20-year-old technician, Gopi Suresh Verma, died in the fire at Cinevista studio, Kanjurmarg, on Saturday. His body was recovered on Sunday morning from the debris. It was identified by his father with the help of his Aadhaar card and mobile handset.  Verma was working as an audio assistant inside the studio when the fire broke out. Though the entire cast and crew were rescued, he got trapped. Sadly, no one knew about it until the police found his body on Sunday morning.

Akhilesh Singh, DCP Zone 7, said, “We were very much present during the cooling and dousing of the fire, no one among the studio crew realised that he was stuck.” His father, Swaroop Kumar Verma, on Sunday morning went to the spot and informed the police that his son was missing. Later, they found the burnt body that was identified with the help of his half burnt Aadhar card.

A senior fire official said when they were winding up The operations, “none of the crew members had any clue, even though we asked them a couple of times.’’ Dr Vidya Thakur, medical superintendent, Rajawadi Hospital, said, “The body was charred before recognition.’’
