Highlights from Golden Globes 2018 ceremony.
The tale of a mother seeking answers for her daughter’s murder, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri beat big ticket films like Dunkirk and The Post to win Best Motion Picture – Drama award on Monday morning. The film’s stars Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell took home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture awards, respectively. Also, the Best Screenplay – Motion Picture award went to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri screenwriter Martin McDonagh.
HBO’s The Big Little Lies took home the maximum TV awards. The show bagged the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Nicole Kidman), Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Laura Dern) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Alexander Skarsgård) awards.
At the Golden Globes this year, Oprah Winfrey was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award for her “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”.

Here are all the highlights from the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards:
9:36 am: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri wins Best Motion Picture – Drama. This is the film’s fourth award for the night. This was the last award for the event. Host Seth Meyers announces the end of the evening.
9:29 am: Frances McDormand wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She spoke about the “tectonic shift in the industry’s power structure”.
9:21 am: Gary Oldman wins the Golden Globe Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his performance in Darkest Hour. Gary Oldman had earlier criticised Golden Globes and HFPA when he said that the awards were merely a vehicle to drive up the ratings and not an honest celebration of art.
9:14 am: Lady Bird wins Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Director Greta Gerwig takes the microphone and thanks all those involved with the project.
9:04 am: Saoirse Ronan wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her performance in Lady Bird. Sitting in the audience, director Greta Gerwig is beaming with joy.
8:57 am: Big Little Lies wins Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. This is their fourth win for the night. Reese Witherspoon applauds everyone who has had the courage to speak against abuse and harassment.
8:48 am: Guillermo del Toro wins in the category Best Director – Motion Picture for his film The Shape of Water. The film’s lead actor, Sally Hawkins, gets emotional sitting in the audience as she hears him speak. The music starts playing but Guillermo asks them to lower it down as he wants to finish his vote of thanks, after all, he has been here for over 25 years.
8:45 am: The audience breaks into a thunderous applause and gives Oprah a standing ovation. Oprah further says, “Every woman who chooses to say ‘Me Too’ and every man who chooses to listen.”

8:33 am: Reese Witherspoon introduces Oprah Winfrey on the stage for her lifetime achievemnet honour, Cecil B. DeMille Award. Oprah Winfrey is the first African-American woman to be given this honour and she acknowledges the same in her acceptance speech. “I want to say I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate these complicated times Which brings me to this: What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. I’m especially proud and inspired by all the woman who felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories.” Oprah applauds all the women for coming out with their truth about being harassed. Not just actors, Oprah mentions that women from all walks of life have gotten inspired from the movement.
8:26 am: Aziz Ansari wins in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for his performance on the Netflix series Master of None.

8:25 am: The Marvelous Mrs Maisel wins in the category Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

8:16 am: Ewan McGregor wins his first Golden Globe for Fargo. He won in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television.

8:12 am: In The Fade wins Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language.
8:06 am: Martin McDonagh wins Best Screenplay – Motion Picture for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
8:03 am: Kirk Douglas, who turned 101 a few weeks ago, is called on stage at the Golden Globes. Glimpses from his career are played on the screen. The audience welcomes him with a standing ovation. Kirk is applauded for ending the blacklist of writers in Hollywood by crediting Trumbo for writing the movie Spartacus (1960).
7:59 am: Allison Janney wins in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for her performance in I, Tonya. She thanked her co-star Margot Robbie. I, Tonya is based on the life of of figure skater Tonya Harding and Janney thanked her for being an inspiration.

7:54 am: The first Golden Globe Ambassador is announced by Dwayne Johnson and it is his own daughter Simone Garcia Johnson.
7:51 am: Amy Poehler and Andy Samberg present the award for the Best Motion Picture – Animated and it is won by Coco.
7:47 am: Laura Dern wins the award in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her performance on Big Little Lies. She urged everyone to support and encourage survivors of abuse.
7:39 am: James Franco wins in the category Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for The Disaster Artist. James Franco called Tommy Wiseau on the stage and shared his joy with him. He also thanked Seth Rogen who he has known since Freaks & Geeks. He also thanked his brother and co-actor Dave Franco. James Franco was also the director for this movie.
7:30 am: “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman wins the Golden Globe in the category Best Original Song – Motion Picture.
7:28 am: Alexandre Desplat wins Best Original Score – Motion Picture for The Shape of Water.
7: 25 am: Alexander Skarsgård wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Big Little Lies. He played an abusive husband on the show. He thanked all the women attached to the show, especially Nicole Kidman.

7:18 am: The Handmaid’s Tale wins the award for Best Television Series – Drama.
7: 16 am: Sterling K Brown wins the award for Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series – Drama for his role in This is Us. He applauded the courage of the writers and the makers of the show for writing a role that was exclusively meant for an African-American man. Brown is the first African-American actor to win an award in this category.

7:06 am: Sam Rockwell wins the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture Golden Globe Award for his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
7:05 am: Nicole Kidman takes home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in the HBO series Big Little Lies. In her speech, Kidman urged others to keep the conversation about abuse and the treatment of women alive.

7 am: Seth Meyers opens the 2018 Golden Globe Awards with jokes about the sexual misconduct scandal. Opening his monologue by saying, “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen!”, Seth Meyers remarks it’s the first time in three months that it won’t be terrifying for male actors to have their names read out loud. He also didn’t miss a chance to take potshots at disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein and US President Donald Trump.
6:40 am: Popular comedian and anchor Seth Meyers will host 2018 Golden Globe Awards.
6:30 am: 2018 Golden Globe Awards is the first big Hollywood event after the sexual harassment scandal which rocked Hollywood and television industry in the United States.
6:25 am: Ashley Judd, who was among the first actresses to break the silence about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct, and Salma Hayek, who wrote an op-ed about her experience with Weinstein, attended the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards together.
6:17 am: “We feel sort of emboldened in this particular moment to stand together in a thick black line,” Meryl Streep told reporters.
6:15 am: Some actresses took to the red carpet with their activist friends. Notable among them was Michelle Williams who walked the red carpet with #MeToo founder Tarana Burke. Meryl Streep was joined by domestic workers advocate Ai-jen Poo. Laura Dern and farmworker advocate Monica Ramirez were also spotted together.
6 am: Many actresses, actors and activists chose to wear black in a statement against Hollywood’s prevailing sexual harassment and gender inequality problem.
