CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna  , Philippines  —  A Chinese businessman was arrested for alleged possession of P1.3 million worth of fake cigarettes following a raid in Lucena City, Quezon on Saturday.

Police said they seized 256 boxes of fake cigarettes from the house of Andy Chua, 42.

The suspect will be charged for violating Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Rights, according to Superintendent Reynaldo Maclang, chief of the Lucena police.

 Maclang said the suspect was placed under surveillance after a concerned citizen informed the police about his alleged illegal activity.
