Hingham's McCracken, Puzo and Powers plan to seek re-election

HINGHAM – Nomination papers for this year’s town election are available at the town clerk’s office.

The election will be held Saturday, April 28.

Town Clerk Eileen McCracken, one of the office-holders whose terms expire this year, will be seeking re-election.

“I know it has been questionable as to whether I would run for another term,” McCracken said. “I decided that I would continue because, with the change of town administrator, I thought it would be helpful not to have a new town clerk as well.”

Thomas Mayo has been serving as interim town administrator since Town Administrator Ted Alexiades retired last year.

Town Moderator Michael Puzo confirmed that he plans to run for re-election. He said serving as moderator is “a profound privilege.”

Recreation commissioner Vicki Donlan said she plans to run for another term.

Selectman Mary Power has taken out papers to seek a second term.

Russell Reeves of Edgar Walker Court has take out papers to run for selectman.

Longtime planning board member Sarah Corey will not be seeking re-election.

The following town officials are serving terms that expire this year:

Town Moderator Michael J. Puzo, Selectman Mary Power, Town Clerk Eileen A. McCracken, Assessor Michael P. Shaughnessy, board of health member Peter B. Bickford, municipal light board member John A. Stoddard Jr., school committee member Aylene M. Calnan, school committee member Cynthia W. Galko, planning board member Sarah H. Corey, sewer commission member Robert Higgins, housing authority member James R. Watson and recreation commission member Vicki Donlan.

Prospective candidates must get at least 50 registered registered Hingham voters to sign their nomination papers.

Nomination papers must be filed at the town clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, March 8.
