Hospital super assaulted in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, Jan 7: Local ruling party leaders allegedly assaulted Dr. Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of 250-Bed Meherpur General Hospital and snatched the records of food supply tender on Thursday.
In this connection, he filed a case with Sadar Police Station on Saturday afternoon.
During an extended meeting of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), district unit, on Saturday, Dr. Mizanur Rahman alleged that some miscreants entered his office and assaulted him physically and also took away the food supply tender documents.
BMA members strongly condemned the incident and decided to take legal action against the delinquents. They also decided to wear black badges for three days from Sunday and form a human chain on Wednesday. They will also declare strong programmes, if needed.
According to the case, the accused are Awami League (AL) leader Aminul Islam, District Juba League Joint Secretary Sarfaraj Hossain Mridul, and AL activists Debasish Kumar Bagchi and Elias Hossain.
Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad, Swadhinata Nurses' Parishad and BMA expressed their solidarity with the decision of filing the case.
Robiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident.
