The cold wave continued to sweep the State with the temperatures plummeting below 10 degree Celsius in 13 stations on Sunday. The cold wave has thrown normal life out of gear in these regions.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Director Sarat Sahu informed that the cold wave conditions are likely to prevail for a few more days, but the temperature would not drop any further.

The minimum temperature recorded at Phulbani was 4.5 degree Celsius; Sundargarh recorded 7 degree while Jharsuguda and Bhawanipatna recorded 7.8 degree and 8 degree, respectively.

Temperature at Hirakud and Keonjhar was recorded to be 8.2 degree. Similarly, the temperature at Angul and Sambalpur was 8.5 degree. Temperature at Baripada was recorded 9.4 degree, Balangir 9.6 degree and in Koraput and Sonepur it was 9.5 degree Celsius.

The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded temperatures of 12 and 13 degree, respectively.

Meanwhile, the IMD Regional Office said the weather would continue to remain dry in the State despite a lower pressure area developing over south-east Bay of Bengal and the south Andaman Sea on Saturday.
