SATURDAY'S PREPS: No. 8 Mediapolis keeps rolling

Maya Johnson scored 24 points to lead No. 8 (Class 2A) Mediapolis High School to a 64-39 girls basketball victory over Northeast Goose Lake at Mediapolis Saturday night.

The Bullettes stretched their undefeated string to 11 games.

Mackenzie Rogers finished with 15 points, four steals and five assists for Mediapolis. Helaina Hillyard had five steals and five assists. Jacy House paced Northeast with 13 points.

Mediapolis returns to action Monday at Mount Pleasant.

L-M 43, Keota 27

Mariah Pugh had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Louisa-Muscatine to a non-conference victory at Letts.

The Falcons led just 27-25 through three quarters, then took off on a 16-2 run in the final eight minutes.

L-M's Kylee Sanders finished with 14 points, six steals and four assists. Alexa Wehrle had four four points and six assists.

Louisa-Muscatine (6-6) plays at No. 8 (Class 2A) Mediapolis on Tuesday.

W-MU 66, New London 44

Lexee Hartsock had game highs of 22 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots to lead Winfield-Mount Union past New London at Winfield.

Allie McArtor and Karley Schlee each scored 11 points for the Lady Wolves. McArtor had eight rebounds. Sydni Coleman led New London with 15 points and seven rebounds. Marah Hartrick added 11 points and three assists.

Winfield-Mount Union (7-6) plays at Wapello Tuesday. New London (1-11) plays Notre Dame at Burlington Tuesday.

Wilton 70, Wapello 33

Emily Lange's 18 points led a trio of Wilton players in double figures in a non-conference win over the Arrows at Wapello.

Eryka Dickey led Wapello with 11 points. Addisyn Lolling added eight. Wapelo (7-4) hosts Winfield-Mount Union in a North Division game on Tuesday.

Illini West sweeps

Illini West won both its games at the Lady Panther Classic at Camp Point, Illinois, topping South Fulton 44-26 and Brown County 36-31.

Against South Fulton, Baylee Clampitt led Illini West with 15 points. Katie Rhodes scored 14 and Kailee Artman added 10. Madison Coulter led South Fulton with eight points.

Clampitt had 14 points against Brown County and Rylie Harrell added 10  points.

West Hancock splits

West Hancock split its two games in the Lady Panther Classic at Camp Point, Illinois. The Titans opened with a 40-32 win over South Fulton, then lost to Quincy, 61-41.

Against South Fulton, Emma Knipe and Josi Radel each scored nine points. Kailee Pfeiferling added seven points for the Titans and Lexi Carel scored five. Sadie Markley led South Fulton with eight points.

Against Quincy, Pfeiferling led the way with 14 points and Knipe added 12.

BOYS BASKETBALL

New London 67, W-MU 29

Ten Tigers scored and New London coasted by Winfield-Mount Union.

Isaac McSorley and Alex Dentlinger scored 14 points each to lead New London. Grant Swanson added 12 and Keontae Luckett scored eight. Cody McCreight, BJ Rodgers and Daunte Oepping each scored six points to lead the Wolves. Christian Gerot added five.

New London (9-2) hosts Notre Dame Tuesday. Winfield-Mount Union (1-11) plays at Wapello on Tuesday.

Mount Pleasant 75

Central Lee 35

The Panthers rolled to a non-conference win over Central Lee at Mount Pleasant.

Central Lee (6-3) hosts West Burlington Tuesday. Mount Pleasant (8-2) plays Liberty at Iowa City on Tuesday.

Illini West 50, Keokuk 38

Jackson Porter's 25 points sparked the Chargers past Keokuk in the Hancock County Tournament at Carthage, Illinois.

Porter had five field goals, three from behind the 3-point arc, and he sank 12 of 12 free throws. Carter Boyer scored 10 points and Kennedy Gooding added nine.

Tyjai Mueller led Keokuk with 17 points. Dre Moody scored 10.

Clinton sweeps BHS

Clinton swept boys and girls duals at KingPins in Burlington

The Clinton boys won, 1,828-1,536 and the girls topped Burlington, 1,481-1,345.

Blake Grelk led the Grayhound boys with a two-game series of 180-164—344. He was followed by Chance Ballard (312), Paul Creek (307), Bradley Levinson (295), Caleb Lott (278) and Jeff Mohler (247). Jaylee Logan paced the Burlington girls with a 193-139—332. She was followed by Leala Rettig (273), Amanda Underwood (260), Courtney Casady (241), Danielle Gutowski (239) and Kelly Cook (204).

Clinton also won both junior varsity duals, the boys 1,559-1,379, and the girls 1,234-1,019. Brett Levins led the Burlington boys with a 309. Grace Breuer led the Grayhound girls with a 245.
