Aston Martin, famous British sports carmaker, has announced that it would be recalling 5,500 of its United States vehicles. The company said that it would recall these vehicles due to some problems with powertrains and battery cables and the reasons were posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Association’s (NHTSA) website.

The NHTSA website also specifies the models that the British carmaker would be recalling. 3,493 models made between 2009 and 2016 such as Rapide, Virage, Vanquish, DB9 and DBS would be recalled due to powertrain problems that can cause the transmission park pawl not to engage, increasing the risk of a crash by allowing the vehicle to roll, said a report by Reuters. The recall is expected to begin in February, 2018.

Another 1,953 DB9 and DBS vehicles manufactured between 2005 and 2009 are being recalled owing to battery issues. The supply cables in these models can be damaged when the driver’s seat is pulled back to its extreme. The documents stated that this could increase the risk of a fire, noted Reuters.

So far no comment was made by the company with regard to this.
