A 22-year-old skier who may have hit a tree Sunday near the base of the Eldora Mountain Resort west of Nederland was rushed by helicopter to a hospital.

The skier was wearing a helmet, and Eldora Mountain employees found him conscious, general manager Brent Tregaskis said. “We think he will be fine. As a precautionary measure, we made the decision to fly him.” No name was given.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Linden confirmed the evacuation. “He apparently hit a tree. He was alive. They pulled him out.”
