ABU DHABI: A team of UAE students recently won the Excellence Award at Huawei’s International ICT Skill Competition in China, it was announced on Saturday.
AlBayt Mitwahid Association joined hands with Huawei earlier this year, to organise students’ participation in Huawei’s initiative “ICT Skill Competition”.
The final stage of the competition took place this week in Shenzhen in China, and the UAE team won the Excellence Prize.
The competition, launched in the Middle East in August 2017, aims to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workforce, by nurturing and developing the ICT skills of the students, preparing them to be the future leaders of the industry.
All participants underwent highly selective examinations at the national level.
Participants worked in real laboratories and tackled some of the industry’s most complex challenges related to cloud computing, switching, routing, and other key ICT solutions and technologies related to digital transformation.
Saif Ali Al Qubaisi, the Chairman of Al Bayt Mitwahid Association, stated: “We are delighted with the excellent results achieved by the UAE team in this Competition.”
He added, “This competition was a great way for students to learn and develop their ICT skills by exposing them to some of the top global ICT executives and the leading international provider of ICT solutions. We are confident that the experience they have gained in this journey will contribute to the creation of qualified national cadres that will benefit our entire nation in the near future, and we look forward to more exciting initiatives.”
Khulood Alqemzi, UAE University student, said: “We are very happy to have represented the UAE at the ICT Skill Competition. I very much enjoyed the experience in China, and I’m very proud of the UAE team to have won the Excellence Award.”
