NEW CONCORD - The Muskingum women dropped a close Ohio Athletic Conference contest, 72-68 to Heidelberg University on Saturday afternoon.
The teams were tied at 17-17 entering the second quarter, but the Lady Student Princes used a 14-12 edge to take a slim 31-29 advantage entering the halftime intermission.
Heidelberg extended its lead to 49-43 following the third quarter and was outscored, 25-23 by Muskingum in the fourth, but was able to hold on for the victory.
Leading the way for the Lady Muskies (6-7, 2-4 OAC) was Olivia Besancon with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists while Emily Yeager added 13 points, three boards and two assists off the bench.
The Lady Student Princes (4-9, 2-4 OAC) received four double-digit scorers in the victory including Brooke Beamer, a product of Tuscawaras Central Catholic High School, who had a game-high 22 points followed by Madely Crawford and Brittanie Ulmer with 15 points each and Alyssa Riley with 11.
Crawford tallied 20 boards for Heidelberg in the victory.
