Liverpool lost Coutinho to Barcelona yesterday with the Brazil international moving to the Nou Camp in a huge £142million deal.

Before the transfer was announced, reports claimed Liverpool had launched a stunning enquiry about Suarez, whose Barcelona future in uncertain.

Barca are set to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window with Atletico Madrid hitman Antoine Griezmann their No1 target.

And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Klopp is now confident of landing Suarez in what would arguably be the biggest shock of the January transfer window.

Suarez remains popular at Liverpool despite leaving four years ago.

The Uruguay international came close to propelling them to Premier League glory in 2014 but left after Barcelona came calling.

Though Roberto Firmino is currently in fine fettle, Liverpool need another striker with Daniel Sturrridge’s long-term future uncertain.

And Diario Gol say Liverpool boss Klopp is confident over a deal to bring Suarez back to Anfield.

It is said the German has told Suarez he will score far more goals on Merseyside than over in Catalonia. 

Even though Liverpool’s attacking arsenal has been weakened with Coutinho’s exit, it would benefit from Suarez leading the line.

He also thinks Barcelona’s playing style does not benefit the Uruguayan, whereas Liverpool’s would.

Meanwhile, speaking in 2016, Suarez admitted Liverpool were the only Premier League club he would consider joining.

“I’d prefer to stay here for many more years,” he said. “I know it doesn’t always turn out that way. 

“But if I had to return to the Premier League, I would only go to Liverpool. I wouldn’t go to another team. 

“It wouldn’t be a move for money. I’d also love to play again for Ajax as they allowed me to develop as a player in Europe.”
