The state chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said that LED bulbs would be used for Republic Day illumination of the government buildings. He gave this instruction while taking a review meeting of the preparations of the Republic Day celebrations at the Secretariat on Saturday. He directed the administrative officers to ensure that the government buildings are lit with LED bulbs in their respective jurisdictional limits on the day. The move is in tune with the Centre and the state government’s stress on the use of the LED bulbs as part of the energy conservation programme.
Besides, messages on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachchha Bharat should be highlighted through the tableaux to be taken out on the day to mark the occasion. CS further said that the rescue and relief operation by SDRF and Char Dham Yatra should find places during the celebration. He stressed on cleanliness drive being launched in the districts from January 14.
As per the plan firmed up by the administration, Governor K K Paul would take the salute of the parade at 10.30 am at the principal function to be held at Parade Ground on January 26. Members of the Army, ITBP, SSB, NCC, NSS, ex-servicemen, state police would participate in the parade. Best parade displays would be awarded. First, second and third awardees would be selected by a committee headed by the state principal secretary home, he said, adding that the tricolour would be unfurled at offices of various departments and the secretariat at 9.30 am on the day. Kavi Sammenal would be held at Town Hall in Dehradun on January 25 evening, he added.
