A rock fisher has drowned after falling into the ocean without a life jacket in the Shoalhaven area on the New South Wales south coast.

The 25-year-old man fell into the water as he was walking to a fishing spot at Little Beecroft Head near Currarong this morning, NSW police said.

The man could not be revived.

Two men who tried to save the man have been taken to hospital to be treated for exposure.
