Barcelona star Lionel Messi produces Philippe Coutinho plan after Liverpool transfer

BARCELONA star Lionel Messi has reportedly produced a plan to ensure Philippe Coutinho thrives at the Nou Camp following the player’s Liverpool exit.

Barcelona completed the signing of Coutinho from Liverpool for a huge £142million.

The Brazil international leaves Anfield after five years on Merseyside where he established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

Coutinho will now have the task of settling in at Barcelona and helping Ernesto Valverde’s side hold on to win La Liga.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon say Messi is ready to do his utmost to ensure the 25-year-old settles in at his new club.

It is said the Argentina international was an advocate of his signing from day one.

Messi, along with Luis Suarez and Paulinho, all wanted the Brazilian to leave Liverpool for Barcelona.

And Don Balon say Messi is determined to help Coutinho become a huge Barcelona hit.

He supposedly plans to act as a leader and make sure he is comfortable in his new surroundings.

And Messi also reportedly thinks that, in Coutinho, Barcelona have finally replaced Neymar.

Neymar left Barca for PSG back in the summer and, though the club signed Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund, the Catalan giants clearly felt they needed more.

Barcelona news: Lionel Messi wants to help Philippe Coutinho settle

Meanwhile, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims Barcelona’s move for Coutinho came after they promised Messi they would be big hitters in the transfer market.

"At the back of this push for quality they are seeing a lot of teams like Man City and Real Madrid reinforcing with young players and Barcelona are lagging behind, no doubt,” he told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.

"They feel there are weaknesses but they promised Messi 'renew your contract and we will build a top team and you will be excited about this team'.

"It'll be Dembele, Luis Suarez, Messi with Antoine Griezmann behind and Coutinho and Busquets and Rakitic..."
