Manchester United could sign Barcelona target Antoine Griezmann this month - Mark Ogden
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN could agree a deal to sign for Manchester United this month, claims ESPN journalist Mark Ogden.
Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann was a transfer target of Manchester United last summer but a deal failed to materialise.
United instead turned their attention to signing a genuine No 9 in Romelu Lukaku.
However, Griezmann’s future at Atletico is in doubt and manager Diego Simeone admits he is likely to leave at some point this year, with Barcelona the favourites to sign him.
The Frenchman has a €100million buyout clause in his contract but that does not become active until July, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
But Ogden reckons United should make a move for Griezmann now to give them a much-needed lift.

Griezmann scores goals, his future at Atletico Madrid is uncertain so it’s a deal that could be done in January
“Manchester United looked at Antoine Griezmann last summer,” Ogden told ESPN FC.
“They kind of pulled out of the race because they said their priority was a centre-forward, they signed Lukaku.
“Diego Simeone has admitted Griezmann will probably leave Atletico Madrid this year.
“He’s got an escape clause in his contract which is around £85million.

“He’s a player that United like, he scores goals, his future at Atletico Madrid is uncertain so it’s a deal that could be done in January.
“Liverpool have spent £75million on Virgil van Dijk, so the money’s there.
“Why not go for him now and maybe start preparing for next summer?
“Griezmann will give United a huge lift and the club needs a bit of a lift at the minute and I think he’d be the player who could do it.”
