Thibodaux basketball player receives scholarship

Thibodaux High School girls basketball player Destiny Batiste was one of four athletes at the AllState Sugar Bowl Classic that received the Detective David Michel Jr. Scholarship at the Alario Center in Westwego on Saturday.

The award goes to players who exemplify the best in grades and citizenship. 

Detective David F. Michel Jr. was a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy shot and killed in the line of duty in 2016.
