Police seek suspect in Iowa City armed robbery

IOWA CITY — Police are looking for a suspect in the armed robbery of an Iowa City business early Sunday morning.

Officers were called to Romantix, 315 Kirkwood Ave., at 1:06 a.m. Sunday. According to police, a white male was browsing merchandise in the store before approaching a cashier as if to purchase something. The man then displayed a weapon, police said, and obtained an unknown amount of cash and merchandise before fleeing the store in an unknown direction.

The employee was not hurt in the incident, police said.

The suspect remains at large. He’s described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and was reportedly wearing a black and yellow striped sweater and beanie.
