DUBAI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation exempts 3,815 fishing boats from fees for all the services provided by the ministry. They will be also exempted from providing bank guarantees to the workers working on those boats.
Dr Omar Al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation for the Communications and International Relations, explained that the fishing boats have been grouped into the first category in the classification system of establishments registered with the Ministry. These boats have also been exempt from any fees collected by the Ministry for the services like the 2-year-labour permits, labourers sponsorship transition and renewal of labour permits.
As per the system, the fees for issuing a labour permit for the first category establishments and the other two categories in the classification system adopted by the Ministry range between Dhs300-Dhs5,000, depending on the category of the establishment and the skill level of the worker, whether skilled or semi-skilled.
He further said that the exemption from the fees of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s services, and the exemption from bank guarantees, will apply to any new fishing boat owned by the citizens registered with the Ministry, which will also be exempt from the registration fee of Dhs2,000.
