The sophomore from Plymouth scores a career-high 25 points in a win over Newbury on Saturday afternoon.
The Bridgewater State University men’s basketball team returned from a 24-day break with a home win on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears coasted past Newbury College, 101-67, at the Tinsley Center with sophomore Rayshon Ward of Plymouth scoring a career-high 25 points.
BSU improved to 6-6 with the victory as Ward made 8 of 10 shots and also had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Joseph Carty recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 17 points on 7 of 10 shooting to go along with a game-high 15 rebounds, while Ryan Carney of Easton added 19 points, six boards and six assists.
BSU, which held a 47-32 halftime lead, used a 21-5 run in the second half to put the win away.
The Bears have a makeup game at home Monday against UMass Boston.
Stonehill 75, Nyack 57: The Skyhawks improved to 8-6 with the non-conference win in New York.
Will Moreton made five 3-pointers and had 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Stonehill.
Brandon Twitty of Randolph added 14 points and four assists while Dan Largey (11), Owen Chose (11) and KJ Lee (10 with six rebounds and five assisets) were also in double figures for the Skyhawks.
UMass 62, Dayton 60: Luwane Pipkins scored 25 points, Carl Pierre added 15 and the Minutemen (8-8, 1-2) defeated the host Flyers (7-8, 1-2) in an Atlantic 10 game.
Chris Baldwin chipped in 10 points for UMass, which had lost three of its past four.
Providence 81, Xavier 72: Kyron Cartwright had 19 points, nine assists and four steals to help the Friars (11-6, 2-2) defeat the No. 5 Musketeers (15-2, 3-1) in a Big East game at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
Women’s basketball
NHTI 61, Massasoit 41: The Warriors (3-7) closed within two points in the second half after trailing by 17 at the half but were unable to complete the comeback against the Lynx.
Massasoit was down, 39-37, entering the fourth quarter before getting outscored, 22-4, the rest of the way.
Sierra Johnson of Brockton had a team-high 23 points to go with seven rebounds for the Warriors while Courtney Foley of Holbrook added 10 points and Sasha Gagnon of Brockton had 11 rebounds.
Men’s swimming and diving
Bridgewater State 142, Elms 81: Dylon Willis was first in the 50 and 100 breaststroke for the Bears. Other winners included Quinn McAlear (100 butterfly), Max Medina (50 freestyle), Richard Smith (100 freestyle), Jameson Rose (400 freestyle) and Robert McDougall (50 butterfly).
Women’s swimming and diving
Bridgewater State 141, Elms 86: Winning events for BSU were Nicole Moneghan (200 freestyle), Katherine Werra (50 backstroke), Madison Damphousse (50 breaststroke), Becca Foster (50 freestyle), Haley Nolan (100 freestyle) Amanda Brennan (100 breaststroke), Mackenzie Coogan (400 freestyle) and Abbie Grant (50 butterfly).

BOYS HOCKEY
Southeastern 7, Blue Hills 1: Southeastern (7-0, 4-0) remained undefeated by coming out on top in the Mayflower League matchup. Matt Lavoie and PJ Page each had two goals and two assists, while Kyle Burns had a goal and five assists.
Other Hawks that found the net were Adam Falcione, Ryan Kinney and Joe Murphy. Joe Fregoe had 19 saves.
GYMNASTICS
Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater 145.4, Medfield/Ashland/ Dover-Sherborn 143.6: BR/WB remained undefeated at 5-0 as Olivia Keyes had a 9.5 on the balance beam and a 9.6 on the floor exercise. Kara Devereaux (vault, 9.6), Alison Silva (floor, 9.5; vault 9.4; balance beam, 9.4), and Julia Chase (floor, 9.4 and vault, 9.0) were also instrumental in the victory.
WRESTLING
Corboys shines for B-R: The Trojans (1-3) went 0-3 in a quad meet at North Attleboro, losing to top-ranked North Attleboro, St. John’s Prep and LaSalle of Rhode Island Sophomore Luke Corboy (120 pounds went 3-0 with two pins.
