Bandai Namco has announced when players on Xbox One, PS4 and PC can expect to get their hands on one of the best-looking fighting games of the year for the first time.

Releasing later this month (January 26), Dragon Ball FighterZ is a 3-on-3 fighting game that collects the cast of Dragon Ball series in a series of epic fights, using all the famous moves and powers from the hit anime series.

Announced at E3 last year, the game has seen an incredible amount of support already - it's a fighting game that has captured the attention of hardcore genre fans and casual players alike.

Developed by ArcSystem Works (the studio behind such games as Guilty Gear and BlazBlue), the game is already gathering a lot of momentum, and after a closed beta late last year, it looks set to draw in even more gamers with its bombastic style and frantic pace.

After the success of the closed beta, Bandai Namco has opted to put the beta out to everyone.

The publisher has revealed that the open beta will kick off on January 13, starting at 8am (UK time) if you've pre-ordered the game.

If you haven't, you'll be able to access the beta from 8am (UK time) on January 14 instead.

For all users, the beta will terminate at January 16, once again at 8am UK time.

Bandai Namco has promised to release more information on the open beta as the time draws closer.

As mentioned above, you get early access to the beta if you pre-order. You'll also get access to two more characters in the roster in the final release: SSGSS Goku and SSGSS Vegeta.

This news comes after yesterday pointed to up to 18 new titles potentially ready to be announced for the Nintendo Switch console - of which DBfZ could be one.

We already know Nintendo is planning to release a Fire Emblem, Pokemon and Yoshi game for the console, but potential third-party games are still yet to be disclosed.

However, a series of rumor threads on Reddit have suggested that the titles being lined up by Nintendo include the best-selling videogame of all time - GTAV - as well as Blizzard's erstwhile online card game, Hearthstone.

The rumour also states Dragon Ball FighterZ - the new fighter from ArcSystem Works - is due to release for Nintendo Switch 'in autumn or winter'.

There is no official statement regarding that information from either Bandai Namco or Nintnedo, but we'll keep you updated as anything gets announced.
