Manchester United want SIX transfers with Monaco duo Thomas Lemar and Fabinho on list

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho wants as many as six new signings with Monaco duo Thomas Lemar and Fabinho on his wishlist, according to reports.

Manchester United have enjoyed their best Premier League campaign since Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge but, with Manchester City so dominant, look set to miss out on the trophy again.

But Red Devils boss Mourinho has not accepted defeat just yet and is desperate to try and reel City in at the top of the table.

And the Sun say Manchester United want as many as six new signings with Monaco players Lemar and Fabinho spearheading the list.

Lemar has emerged as a target for Liverpool after the Reds lost Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

The player nearly joined Arsenal back in the summer, only for the France international to end up staying in Monte Carlo.

Manchester United have added Monaco star Thomas Lemar to their list of targets

Yet United, the Sun say, are determined to snap him up.

They also have an interest in Monaco midfielder Fabinho.

During the summer, it looked likely the Brazil international would follow the likes of Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Tiemoue Bakayoko to England.

But after United splashed out £30million to sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, the player also decided to stick it out at Monaco.

Other names on United’s list are Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, Fulham’s Ryan Sessgenon, Bordeaux’s Malcolm and Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

Who they end up with, however, remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, journalist Duncan Castles has claimed that, though United want Lemar, he may end up moving to Liverpool as Coutinho’s replacement instead.

"I don't think Manchester United will go there,” he told The Transfer Window podcast.

“I know Mourinho rates the player extremely highly and he's effectively top of the list of wingers he'd like to bring in but the budget isn't there to spend that much on a winger alone when there's other positions that need to be filled.

"Liverpool are clearly doing a good job convincing players that's the club they want to go to.

Manchester United could also raid Ligue 1 for Bordeaux star Malcolm

“I know Mourinho rates the player extremely highly and he's effectively top of the list of wingers he'd like to bring in but the budget isn't there to spend that much on a winger alone when there's other positions that need to be filled."

"Liverpool are clearly doing a good job convincing players that's the club they want to go to,” he added.

"Jurgen Klopp is playing a big part in that and he's done that with Virgil van Dijk, convincing them that Liverpool are the best club to go to despite competition from Manchester City and Chelsea.

"The fee is a part of that - they went higher than other clubs were willing to go to - but they convinced the player first. That is what I'm told they've done with Lemar too.”
