Six Senses Zighy Bay Introduces Eco-vehicles
Sustainability lives at the heart of the Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas brand – and it is an integral part of the resort’s DNA at Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman, located on the northern Musandam Peninsula. In its role as an eco-advocate, the resort has purchased its own fleet of seven Nissan Pathfinder SV 4WD Hybrid vehicles, which will transport guests to the resort and take them for out-of-the-ordinary drive experiences in the surrounding region.
Some of the activities incorporating the new fleet of vehicles include:
• Guest transfers between the border and the resort, giving guests an exhilarating off-road arrival
to Six Senses Zighy Bay.
• Al Hajar Mountains excursions to the Sabatyn Plateau, where guests can opt for the stunning sunrise experience with breakfast, the midday trip with a picnic lunch or at dusk to enjoy the sunset with refreshments and canapes.
• Excursions to Dibba Al-Hisn to visit the Six Senses farm, the ancient fortress and the traditional
fish market.
• Guest transfers to some of the exciting activities offered to guests, such as to the marina before setting sail on the beautifully handcrafted Dhahab cruising vessel; exhilarating paragliding from
the mountaintop; and an exceptional fine dining experience at Sense On The Edge restaurant high above the resort’s bay.
General Manager Aaron McGrath says, “Until now, we’ve been using vehicles from a partner over which we have no real control of their environmental credentials; something which is incredibly important to our sustainability initiatives. We reviewed the vehicles available in our market and concluded that the Nissan Pathfinder SV 4WD Hybrid would be best suited to Six Senses Zighy Bay.
“We took into consideration the various uses we would have for the vehicles and what we’d be asking of them in terms of off-road and on-road capabilities, comfort requirements and, of course, their ability to help us reduce our carbon footprint. With its 2.5l supercharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, combined with an electric motor, its fuel efficiency is rated as 24 percent better than a conventional mid-sized SUV, so we feel we’re on the right path with our choice.”
With Six Senses Zighy Bay’s combined and customised activities on the ground, in the water and up
in the air, there is no better place to suit both active guests and those who prefer to sit back, relax and take it a little easier on their holidays. Popular activities embracing the natural wonders of the area include paragliding, mountain biking, dhow cruising, snorkelling, diving and fishing – and each experience promises an unforgettable adventure.
