The Golden Globes, airing Sunday, Jan. 7, are always a highlight of the winter awards season, whether for viral acceptance speeches or some red carpet shenanigans. The all-encompassing celebration, in which TV stars mingle with would-be Oscar contenders, often proves more lively (or relaxed -- the drinks will be flowing) than the Academy Awards. Here's everyone who has been nominated and all you need to know for Hollywood's big night.

Time/channel and host: The 2018 Golden Globes, the 75th annual Golden Globes, will air at 8 p.m. Jan. 7 on NBC. The show will also be live streamed via YouTube TV, DirecTV Now, Sling TV, Link Stream, Fubo TV, Sony PlayStation Vue and Hulu, in addition to the NBC app and website, nbc.com/live, for those with a cable login. "Late Night" host Seth Meyers will preside over the ceremony. Simone Garcia Johnson, daughter of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, will serve as Golden Globe Ambassador (formerly known as Mr./Miss Golden Globe).

Why they're wearing black: Many actresses and actors have committed to wearing black to the awards show to stand in solidarity with victims of sexual harassment, assault and misconduct. Some are doing so on the heels of their involvement with the launch of the Time's Up initiative, which established a legal defense fund that has raised more than $14 million from A-list actresses and other Hollywood figures to support women and men who have been affected by assault and harassment.

"The struggle for women to break in, to rise up the ranks and to simply be heard and acknowledged in male-dominated workplaces must end," read a letter published in the New York Times that was signed by various women involved in the effort, their names representing more than 1,000 women who work in film, theater and TV. "Time's up on this impenetrable monopoly."

Cecil B. DeMille Award: Oprah Winfrey, nominated for a Golden Globe in 1986 for "The Color Purple," is the recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2018.

Presenters: Talents who will take the stage to present awards at the Golden Globes are Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington of "Game of Thrones"; Jennifer Aniston, Ron Howard, Angelina Jolie, Viola Davis, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Emma Stone, Michael Keaton, Mariah Carey, Kerry Washington, "Wonder Woman" Gal Gadot, Amy Poehler, Jessica Chastain, Kelly Clarkson, Halle Berry, Zac Efron, Darren Criss, Garrett Hedlund, John Goodman, Roseanne Barr, Common, Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz, Helen Mirren, Isabelle Huppert, Octavia Spencer, Reese Witherspoon, Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman, Hugh Grant, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Robert Pattinson, Sebastian Stan, Christina Hendricks, Kate Hudson, Alicia Vikander, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Stone, Shirley MacLaine, Ricky Martin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Salma Hayek, Greta Gerwig, J.K.
