Radha Mohan addresses in Northeastern Regional Agriculture Fair 2018

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh, addressed a gathering at the Northeastern Regional Agriculture Fair 2018 organised by the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya on Saturday. The Minister said that the Government has initiated different flagship programmes for the welfare of the people living in rural areas, especially farming communities, by improving the current farming systems and thereby doubling their income from agriculture and allied sectors. In the changing global competitiveness, there is a tremendous scope for improvement in agricultural in the Northeastern region, including Meghalaya. Continuous employment generation in farming sectors through location-specific technologies in a profitable manner in partnership with different stakeholders are the driving forces to attract and retain youth in agriculture. The cooperation and convergence among the state public, private and other stakeholders in the state and sharing of information, technology, knowledge, and resources, can play a key role in mutual development by saving of precious natural resources and time.

PNB distributes blankets to underprivileged sections under CSR activities 

Punjab National Bank (PNB) distributed blankets late in the night to the poor and underprivileged sections of the society under the CSR initiative on the auspicious occasion of the New Year. Dr Ram S Sangapure, Executive Director of the PNB, Rashika R Sangapure, Vice-President of PNB Prerna along with BN Mishra, GM  of the bank distributed blankets to the patients in different wards of Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi last week. Earlier, the blankets were distributed on January 1 to the cold-ridden people in slum area, footpath and railway station of Gurgaon late in the night by JK Gupta, General Manager and other senior officials of the Bank. CSR is an integral part of overall PNB Corporate Business strategy. The bank has been proactively catering to the needs and aspirations of the underprivileged section of the society.

Pradhan inaugurates Symposium and Photo Exhibition on Chilika

Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship inaugurated a unique symposium and photo exhibition titled ‘The Mangalajodi Inheritance', organised by ONGC in association with the the Bhubaneswar Bird Walks on Saturday at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The objective of the symposium and photo exhibition is to bring together opinions of experts from diverse fields to strategise a way forward towards Chilika - The largest brackish water lake - to obtain heritage status from UNESCO. Pradhan was accompanied by Kenji Hiramatsu -Japanese Ambassador to India, Shashi Shanker- CMD ONGC, Narendra Verma- MD ONGC Videsh and D DMisra - Director (HR), ONGC at the photo exhibition by Avinash Khemka, noted wildlife photographer. He highlighted that the Chilika ecosystem is an integral part of the Odia psyche, history and culture and therefore its preservation is crucial. Japanese Ambassador to India  Kenji Hiramatsu appreciated India's role in conservation of bio-diversity in Chilika and reaffirmed Japan's support towards skill development, knowledge transfer and technology induction.

GM of NR Vishwesh Chaubey inspects  DLT coach maintenance complex

General Manager of Northern Railway (NR), Vishwesh Chaube said that the railway stations in the National Capital always face the huge challenge of greater accommodation due to ever-increasing demographic flow and therefore, the Railway shall assign top priority to facelift and re-development of major stations and contiguous stations on major cities. Assigning the highest importance to safety-oriented working and station improvements programs, Vishwesh Chaube undertook an inspection of DLT Coach Maintenance Complex at New Delhi followed by detailed inspection of Delhi Jn. Railway Station to take first hand stock of ongoing/completed and future works at station pertaining to major improvement in passenger amenities and services. RN Singh, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Northern Railway, Delhi & Senior Officers accompanied the GM.

REC bags CBIP Award for Best Power Financing Company

REC Limited has been named the Best Power Financing Company by CBIP recently in New Delhi. The award was received by SK Gupta, Director (Technical), REC from Dr Satya Pal Singh, Ministers of State, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation. REC has been awarded for its outstanding contribution to financing of power infrastructure across the entire value chain and spearheading speedy implementation of the Rural and Household Electrification programmes for inclusive growth in the country.

VICE PRESIDENT V Naidu INAUGURATES DGNCC RDC CAMP 2018

Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India formally inaugurated the National Cadet Corps Republic Day Camp 2018 at the DGNCC Camp adjacent to Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantt. On his arrival, the Vice President was received by the Director General, Lt Gen BS Sahrawat, SM. 2070 Cadets including 695 girl cadets drawn from 29 States and 7 Union Territories of the country are participating in this camp that culminates into the Prime Minister's Rally on 28 Jan 2018. The cadets attending the camp will be participating in a number of activities, like Cultural Programmes, National Integration Awareness and Institutional Training Competitions. A contingent of smartly turned out NCC cadets drawn from all the three wings of Army, Navy and Air Force, presented a ‘Guard of Honour' to the Vice President on his arrival. The Vice President also visited the Flag Area where he has briefed by the young cadets about their respective States on themes contributing towards national awareness and integration. He appreciated the efforts displayed in the Flag Area by the different States. Naidu along with other distinguished guests later witnessed a spectacular ‘Cultural Programme' by the talented cadets in the NCC auditorium.  In his address, he complimented the efforts of NCC, the largest uniformed youth organisation in grooming the youth of the country and its contribution towards ‘Nation Building'.

PFCCL, PTC India Ltd ink MoU for power supply from TPPs

PFC Consulting Ltd. (PFCCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Ltd., has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PTC India Ltd for jointly exploring opportunities for procurement of power from the coal-based commissioned Thermal Power Projects (TPPs) for supply to Discoms and facilitates signing of Power Purchase Agreements. The MoU was executed in the presence of Rajeev Sharma, CMD, PFC, Functional Directors of PFC, senior officials of PFCCL and Deepak Amitabh, CMD and other officials of PTC India Ltd. Subir Mulchandani, Chief Executive Officer, PFCCL and Rajib Kumar Mishra, Director, PTC India Ltd signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

AAS President emphasises on women empowerment mission

President of AAS, Varsha Goel said that she will participate tirelessly in each mission for women empowerment. AAS NGO teammates were tirelessly working for a bigger celebration meant for Women Achievers. AAS NGO was a part of 9th Aadhi Aabadi Women Achievers Awards 2017 in association with Aadhi Aabadi Foundation and Rajesh Sharma Productions. The Program held recently at Constitution Club, New Delhi was a huge success in which women from various fields were honored.
