Rosaline 'Rosie' Burgardt

Rosaline “Rosie” Burgardt, 86, Hays, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Via Christi Village.

She was born July 9, 1931, in Hays to William and Mary (Quint) Hoff. She was a 1949 graduate of Hays High School.

She married Fredoline P. “Fritz” Burgardt on Aug. 16, 1950, in Emmeram. They were married for more than 50 years before he preceded her in death Nov. 21, 2000. She was a nurse's aide and ward clerk at St. Anthony Hospital and Hays Medical Center for 32 years.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and vegetable and flower gardening. She enjoyed watching wrestling on television, polka music, animals, walking her dog and going to garage sales.

Survivors include two sons, Alfred Burgardt and wife, Kathy, Hays, and Larry Burgardt and wife, Zoni, Moore, Okla.; two daughters, Mary Leer and husband, Mike, Manhattan, and Brenda Burgardt, Hays; three grandchildren, Randy Leer and wife, Sandy, California, Amanda Reilly and husband, Joe, Nebraska, and Joe Burgardt, Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine, Hays, KS 67601.

A vigil/rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Masses in care of the funeral home.
