Striking a Balance: Big scores in White's Senior Doubles League

The White’s Senior Doubles League at Spins Bowl in Kent started a new season following the holidays as new league members join and some leave for warmer temperatures following the conclusion of the fall session.

Bo Boettler-Ched Reber, Jim Jeffreys-Larry Stout and Diane-Bill Berg grabbed the three-way tie for first place with eight points at the end of the first week.

Reber celebrated his birthday with an outstanding 289 game on his way to a 760 series to lead all bowlers.

Ron Steinglein was 120 pins over his average when he put three games together for a 456 series, and Buzz Farquhar bested his own average by 80 pins, rolling a 212.

A few of the best scores included Jim May's 236-602, Don Morrow's 238-592, Shari Rader's 234-549 and Ariette Shockley's 197.

Substitute bowlers Linda Shahan and Vana Stefansic enjoyed success as Shahan rolled a 190-544 and Stefansic a 191-534.

MIKE TASSONE’S GALS

Jen Henderson was recognized by league members for her improved games, bowling a 550 series with games of 196 and 186. Henderson carries a 137 average in the league, as her series was 139 pins over her average.

It was a night of improvements as Cindy Ables, carrying a 197 average, was 89 pins over her series average with a 680 that included a high game of 235, and Patty Berger rolled a 459, 89 pins over her series average. Berger carries a 125 average.

Becky Lewis rolled the high game and series, a solid 254-688.

TUESDAY NITE MIXED

In week 18 of the league at Spins Bowl in Kent, Paul Jarosz and Cherie Boveington led all bowlers for both high game and high series.

Jarosz rolled a 261 with a three-game total of 683 while Boveington hit 200 exactly and earned high-series honors with her 516.

Jarosz was the most improved in the league. His 261 game was 73 pins over his 188 average.

Betty Smith was 54 pins over her 142 average when she rolled a 196 game.

KACZMAREK TRIO

Russ Renkel bowled a 237-682 and Doris Reber a 205-497 as the best in the weekly league at Spins Bowl in Kent.

Larry Gooch rolled a nice 225 that was 54 pins over his 171 average.

MILLER GARAGE

There was a total of seven 700 series in the Miller Garage League.

Mark Ruediger (748), D.J. Madden (730), Dale Eiserbarth (725), Brad Fulks (713), Ted Edmond (707) and John Burkey (707) all cracked the 700 mark, with Madden earning high-game honors with a 278.

The seventh 700 was bowled by Erin Jackson as she tipped the pins for a 269-707.

THE BEST OF THE YOUTH

Andrew Hostetler was 46 pins over his 84 average in the Pee Wee league at Spins Bowl in Kent. Hostetler rolled a 130 game and a 200 series.

The girls' best in the youngest league was rolled by Coco Wijnhoven, a 107-187.

In the Bantam-Prep league, William Richards bowled a 168 high game, sharing the honors with Sean Boveington who tossed the high series of 467.

Abby Smith rolled a high game of 149 that was 43 pins over her 106 average, and Brooklynn Horner was 89 pins over her series average when she put three games together for a 407 series.
