Floods: 948 people still in shelters in Kemaman

KUALA TERENGGANU: There are still 948 people from 207 families in shelters in Kemaman as 8am today, according to Terengganu Civil Defence Force chief Lt Col Che Adam A Rahman.

Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Mentok is sheltering 843 people from 189 families while Surau Pulau Tempurung, 105 people from 18 families.

The school had to cancel classes because it had to serve as a flood relief centre.

All the evacuees are expected to return to their homes today as the floods in the district have fully subsided.

In PAHANG, the number of flood evacuees was reported to have risen slightly, to 1,301 people this morning as compared to 1,256 people last night. They are being housed in 19 shelters, in Pekan, Maran, Bera and Kuantan.

In JOHOR , only 25 evacuees remain at shelters in Segamat, 15 people from three families in Kampung Mensudut Lama and 10 people from four families in Kampung Balai Badang. — Bernama
