Three assistant attorneys general have resigned from their offices as “they were not promoted to the post of deputy attorney general”.
The trio -- Gazi Mamunur Rashid, Jahangir Alam and Hasanuzzaman Ujjal --submitted their resignation letters to the attorney general’s office today for forwarding those to the president.
They did not mention the reasons behind their resignation in the letters.
Last week, the government promoted 13 assistant attorneys general to the post of deputy attorneys general but their names were not in the list.
Sources at the attorney general office, however, said Mamunur, Jahangir and Hasanuzzaman resigned as they were not promoted to the post of deputy attorney general.
