ROCKFORD – Anthony Louis netted the lone tally in the shootout and Collin Delia shut the door on all three Cleveland shooters to help the Rockford IceHogs skate past the Monsters 4-3 in front of a crowd of 4,693 at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Saturday night.
Louis wired a wrist shot low, glove-side in the first round to give his team the lead. Delia earned his second AHL win with a career-high 29 saves.
After the IceHogs fell behind 2-0 in the first period, Tomas Jurco cashed in on a rebound to cut the lead in half before the intermission.
Matthew Highmore then knotted the game at two just 15 seconds into the second period. Erik Gustafsson stashed his fifth assist in his last six games with a helper on Highmore’s marker.
The Monsters responded 10 minutes later, but Sikura tied the game once more at 15:51 with a tight-angle shot that squeaked through Cleveland’s Joonas Korpisalo to eventually send the game to overtime.
Dalpe, Miles Koules and Sam Kurker recorded regulation-time goals for Cleveland in their second visit to Rockford in five days.
